Hopeful October 5, 2009 J. Tjader Jr. 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had the micless version of these for 3 years and love them! Very durable, sound great and comfy. The best of all worlds for under $20. I just ordered these cause I need a mic. Hope they're as good as my other Emerge earbuds.
OK, but only works with iphone type I think - has 3 section plug February 18, 2010 Children Need Parents Equally It didn't work with my phone (not an iphone) because I had to hold in the push to talk button or else the sound was reverberating. I think that it only works with iphone type devices that use a 3 section plug (including microphone).
Conveient for a commuter, not the greatest quality April 16, 2010 Ethan Colchamiro (Chicago, IL) For some reason, this is the only retractable set of earbuds I could find, that also features a microphone for talking on an iPhone, and allows you to answer/end calls and stop/start music with the microphone headset.
The retractability is a very convenient feature for me as a commuter. When I get off the train and head to my office, I don't have to deal with wrangling my iPhone earbuds. A simple tug on the chord and they retract, nicely. For the most part. Occasionally there is some wiggling you'll need to do, but overall it works.
What you get in convenience, you'll pay for in quality. The sound is nothing special, and the earbuds feel cheap and flimsy. The microphone headset works well answering and ending calls, stopping/starting music and skipping to the next track. Call quality on the microphone is adequate, but nothing special. Unlike my Apple iPhone earbuds, people could tell they were talking to me on a microphone.
If convenience is the most important thing you're looking for, then these earbuds are the only game in town, and worth buying. But if audio quality is on the top of your list, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I still haven't decided if I'm going to stick with these, or find something that doesn't retract but provides better sound.
Not a big fan of the asymmetrical headsets October 18, 2009 Nom de Guerre (Castro Valley, CA USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I wanted a retractable to keep in my bag, but this isn't totally retractable. The length of wire on the two ear pieces is asymmetrical, because you're supposed to wrap the non-microphone side around the back of your head. I'm sure this is a more ergonomic design, but it is a total hassle to put these on in a hurry (which is usually what I'm doing). Also, because of this design, a good length of earpiece cord doesn't retract.
Overall, not so good.
not so retractable February 23, 2010 G. Hernandez-Lepe I was disappointed to find that this headset often gets tangled and fails to retract. The sound is ok and the earbuds were comfortable and come with varying sizes.
